Overview

ABOUT THE HOST

Mandated by the former Tourism and Industrial Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago (TIDCO), The Trinidad and Tobago Tour Guides’ Association (TTTGA) was established in October 1997.  The Association under Trade Union regulations has the vision of standardising the service of our local Tour Guides as well as the information being disseminated, thereby increasing their professionalism and, by extension, uplifting the nation’s tourism product.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

The Pitch Lake is another wonder of the world!  It is the largest natural deposit of asphalt in the world. It is about 40 ha and about 75m deep. The Pitch Lake is the source of asphalt used in the paving of roads and highways throughout the world.  The Wild Fowl Trust in Pointe-a-Pierre is one the many protected wetlands in Trinidad and Tobago where you see our protected wildlife in their habitat. We end the day with a Central Experience, visiting  the 85’ Hanuman Murti, the largest such murti outside of India, before heading to the Temple in the Sea – a Hindu pilgrimage sight built by Siewdass Sadhu over a period of 25 years, in testament to his religion.  After being denied the opportunity to build the temple on land near the water, he single handedly build the temple in the sea!
